I think its because people saved recordings of these with VHS cassettes, which I think end up losing quality the more they're used.

Mostly editing out blood and stuff since in nipland gore is seen as worse than sex while here it's the other way around.

Another common one that comes to mind is editing references to broccoli to green peppers, because for murricans broccoli is the go-to "gross vegetable kids hate" but in Japan green peppers hold the title

The Japanese typically serve it as half rice and half curry because it looks neater that way, but lots of people will pour the curry on top of the rice. I think you get better rice to curry per bite when you serve it half and half style though.
