Other than the lack of 3D, is there any difference at all between the 2ds and 3ds? My 3ds is crapping out (my kid cousin dropped it) and I need a new one before sun and moon come out. Is it actually worth the extra money for a new 3ds or is the 2ds the same exact thing sans 3D?

Apart from that and the aspect it's the same as a regular 3DS. The new3DS is more powerful, but that most likely will not make a difference while playing SM.

I never even wanted the 3D capabilities so I went and bought a 2DS. Best DS i have ever bought. My old DS lites kept having the same breaking issues, the hinges. They kept cracking and when that happens, the DS top half would swing freely and not stay closed. Now they start at $79 USD (In case you're not from America) so its not that bad. Bought mine for $129 USD when they first came out.

Have you actually seen one of these things? I've never held one but I've heard they are fairly sturdy but the exposed screen is a big turn off for me. Also add in that it's fairly huge and not portable at all for a handheld means a no buy for me.

With the NX coming up soon, if I were in your situation and if money were an issue, just get an old 3ds XL.

Its battey life is slightly longer than the original 3DS', its audio is mono unless you use headphones, and its slightly larger than the normal sized original and new 3DS

Portability has never been an issue for me. I keep mine in a sleeve i bought from GameStop for 15 bucks and it holds all my stuff in it as well. my 2DS is nearing 3 years old and it doesnt have a messed up screen or anything like that. I plan on buying a newer one soon.

I got mine for $50 on craigslist, almost brand new, and after I got it I saw another one for $40 that was practically brand new and came with a case and a mario game.
2ds is the way.
Its also really comfy and feels a lot better than it looks in pictures.

I bought a 2DS for my niece and I will say, it's more comfortable than the 3DS for me, even as someone with larger hands. It's a lot lighter and the buttons are positioned really well.

The battery life is better, also.

Do you carry it around with you or leave it at home? I feel like if you kept it in a sleeve to bring around with you, you'd need a bigger carrying bag for it, either as a backpack or man purse type vehicle.

If you decide on a N3ds, transferring your data is a one way trip and you'll only be able to transfer to other N3DS and can't go back to the regular 3ds/2ds. That being said the 2ds is pretty good and the 80$ pricetag is too good to pass up

Anyone know why places are selling the sea green 2DS for much more money than the other two?

It's the color I wanted but I can't bring myself to dish out the extra money for a color palette

i'm buying the new 3ds just for pokémon, i know the nx is just around the corner but i won't consider buying it until a new pokémon game is announced, i got pokéfever these days and can't fucking wait to play SM.

It will be quite an investment but i don't think i'll regret it, and i live in Brazil.

To OP, get it m8. You won't be dissapointed. No differences other than 3D, and the 2DS comes with low firmware so it's easy to hack. $80 USD for the standard isn't much and then you can wait for the NX to u
