About to use one in emerald, its moveset is looking pretty meh. It becomes godly in gen 4 though wgen it gets Stone Edge, Close Combat, Night Slash, Aerial Ace, and Shadow Claw. Its no Gliscor, but it has alot of ingame coverage options.

Mine was MVP of my last SS play through, yours might have shitty IVs or something. He's basically set for the rest of the game after Brick Break.

I imagine Gligar would be even worse early game since Heracross doesn't even have to evolve.

Just choose your favorite of Murkrow/Larvitar, in game team composition barely matters. If all you care about is which one is better then just choose Larvitar

If you're talking about GSC then yeah he has an ass movepool. In gen 4 his movepool is GOAT though, he gets great moves really fast and then Close Combat at 37.

Even then in GSC everyone movepool was barren as shit, with few exceptions like Nidoking that learns almost fucking everything.

Yet Heracross was able to just make it with only fucking Headbutt.
A lot of things learn Bite to take out the Ghost-Types and you got Surf very early, that means that you'll never are going to care about Rock Types. Steel-Types are few and you have either the starter, Vulpix/Growlithe or even Magmar, so those aren't an issue either.

That's what I meant.
Heracross only needed Headbutt to make through the campaign.
It's reasonable fast and that flinch chance is very easy to abuse.

Then when you got Megahorn, you'll never care again about type-effectiveness, that shit was able to kill everything.

Technically same power than Moltres' Fire Blast or Zapdos' Thunder.
