It's really good if you like combining different tastes. Another good topping for that is olives, although those go in the opposite direction (pineapple is sweet, while olives are salt bombs). But yeah, I love it. Make a good pizza Hawaii, sprinkle some oregano on it and put some fresh garlic through the press and put some of that on the top as well, yummy.

a little bit of sweet is fine (like adding halved cherry tomatoes), but adding all that water on top makes a mess of everything

First time I did it was a vile thing.
The pineapple was in fucking quarter-slices. Pizza isn't supposed to be eaten with chunky crunchy shit in it.

It's tolerable when you actually slice that shit down to bits, but still a very mediocre pizza.
