Playing through Pokemon White after going through Omega Ruby recently. Does it bother anyone else that these two, plus X/Y, features a rival who is intentionally inferior to the player character? I'm talking about Bianca in White, Wally and Brendan/May in Ruby, and Shauna in X/Y (ignoring Tierno and Trevor).

Going through Ruby and White, I just feel really bad whenever my "rival" shows up to fight, especially when Bianca says lines like, "Every time I watch my Pokémon battle, it ends like this..." GameFreak's kind of fucked up.
