Probably not very since it doesn't get Protean. Remember that GF doesn't base its bans on strength. Phione is also banned from VGC.

it's probably getting a mega-tier stat boost, but without needing a mega stone, and probably legal in VGC, as OP's image isn't referring to VGC.

Not even slightly considering Rayquaza was allowed last year in VGC.

It's 90% likely to be because it's only available from the demo which not everyone might have access to.

You don't even know if the ability will make it as strong as megas. It could be as big of a boost as Minior or Wishiwashi for all you know.

Just for clarity, does this mean that the pokemon entered MUST have been obtained in Alola? Or can pokémon transferred forwards from gen 6 also be entered as long as they are ALSO obtainable in Alola?

It probably will. It's water shuriken, which has 15bp, was able to do more than half to Rockruff in on hit and only being a single level higher. Doing that much damage from just a 15bp move is rediculous, even if it's against a first stage and super effective. So either Water Shutiken becomes stronger, or Greninja gets a really high Atk stat.

To clarify, a single hit from a water shuriken by a lv 37 Greninja does about 1/4 to 1/3 damage to Growlithe, who is also weak to water. To replicate the damage (assuming Growlithe and Rockruff have similar bulk), Greninja would be base 150~ Atk.
A priority, multi-hit move off a base 150 Atk with probably even more speed and maybe can use a life orb is what we're getting here folks.
