Wait a second, if Ash is now canon in the games does it mean that sentient movie Mewtwo is also canon?

Also the Misty that aged in HGSS and anime Misty are different people?

Game May and anime May are different people that look similar? (because May's adventure is with Brendan in the games, not Ash)

Older game Serena is the same Serena after Ash left or a different person?

Seriously this is a clusterfuck I don't get it.

Just because Ash exists in the games doesn't mean that the anime and games have the same canon.
Remember, the league concept is completely different, the protagonists beat all the evil teams, and Ash was nowhere to be seen during all of the most critical points in the games.
It's the same as PokeSpe using the game protagonists' names, they're connected to the games but have a completely different canon.

Ash and Red can't co-exist in the same Universe.

They are parallel counterparts.
