It being in the game doesn't automatically make it canon. Pretty sure the word of god at the moment is that the games and the anime happen in different continuities.

We need a Pokemon series with Mystery Dungeon tier writing. Hell I'll settle for Colosseum. Edge or a never ending story are terrible.

Ash's anime has been canon (for better or worse) since Yellow. Gen 6 with Pikachu's new cry and multiverse theory just ensures it.

Yeah, nice try. Adventures is the only canon with the balls to make the story about the pokedex holders, instead of about marketing the kawaii monsters. Because the characters are good enough to stand on their own.
