Get a Dunsparce from the first cave. It's 1% encounter rate. I did it way back when. The Serene Grace Headbutt (from the guy in Ilex Forest) was sooooo worth it.

Actually, on second thought you might want to decide wether you want crobat or dragonite (two flying types isn't great) I would recommend Tyranitar Gengar or Donphan, those are pretty solid and ensure type coverage (even if Tyranitar's got a lot of weaknesses)
