They're banned from VGC, they're only even in the game because Game Freak spent enough time on them that it would be a waste to not just port them over.
The big problem is if Smogon decide that allowing both Megas and Z-Moves won't be a clusterfuck.

Ive been playing since gen1 and I love megas. Yes they make the game easy but the new games themselves are already piss easy.

Seeing all my old bros redesigned in sweet uber forms is great. Theres nothing more satisfying than a lvl65 Mega Gardevoir Psychic attack on a lvl 3 shitmon interrupting my walk.

I know that but it still pisses me off that the competative team I was planning will likely be invalid. Hopefully the Alola dex has more Pokémon from other regions and isn't like gen 5 otherwise I'm gonna fucking kill whoever does the VGC shit.
