If you'll notice, all three second stages mention Trainers bonding with their Pokemon. And we know that Amie- as Refresh- is coming back with a vengeance.
Perhaps there's a secret, alternate evolution path for these Pokemon, locked behind Refresh- in a similar vein to Sylveon?
