Gen 1 had Charizard winning by a GREAT margin, but all the starters got plenty of love.
Gen 2 had Feraligatr winning by a small margin, with typho being "quite cool". Meganium was ignored and stayed like this until this day.
Gen 3 had Sceptile winning it. It was the most used, had an excellent deck in TCG, was Ash's ace, cool design. All of 3 starters were great, again. Also, you can't call someone a winner of gen 3 by something that happened in gen 6 and, even then, because gamefreak forced(and REALLY forced) blaziken down our throats, Sceptile still stands as a winner. Cool mega design, again appeared in XY...
Gen 4 had infernape winning by a long margin. Torterra wasn't up to the competition and Empoleon was just a disgrace.
Gen 5 was the war of no option: Three shitty basic stages, middle evolutions and final forms. Oshawott line was pitiful in everything and snek had the chance to win by design only, but it was so disgraceful even stat-wise that made people reset their games to the cool westrling pork that actually could fight.
Gen 6 was FROG - THE GEN, biggest gap of them all.
Gen 7 have 3 great mons, i'm amused. I love popplio's like, they're all awesome, fabulous and the middle stage is cute as fuck, but RobinHoot just got me hard.
