>>28952053The main thing (and the biggest complaint most have) is that you don't directly control the Yokai. Instead, you indirectly control them in combat by
-Using Soultimate moves, their supers that charge up as they fight.
-Spinning the Yokai Wheel; basically, you have 6 Yokai with you at once, but only 3 will be in the front row. You rotate the wheel to determine who's in front.
-Magazines that alter their AI. AI is pretty good for the most part, but you can fine tune them to make them focus on performing certain actions. For example, a "Grouchy" Yokai will focus on physical attacks, but occasionally throw in status/skills, while a "Rough" Yokai will almost always use Physical attacks.
My biggest gripe, as I was complaining about, is actually catching Yokai. It's basically a guessing game and RNG, you just throw food at Yokai until you figure out what type of food they like (however, you can only feed a Yokai once per battle, and item usage has a cooldown), and even then you only marginally increase the chance of them joining you. And this is after you trudge around town looking under cars and dumpsters for the fucks in the first place.
