If it was then I'd definitely have a better chance each time I failed, but all I can do is make my chance better by lowering HP or status and then throw balls until I run out or catch it.

In theory it's always could happen where you'd never catch a Pokemon, whereas with psudeo-rng the probability converges upon 100%

Half the apricon balls don't work in gen 2 and the game doesn't save what ball Pokemon are caught in.

Try plugging gen 1/2 games into Stadium 1/2. Everything will be in a Pokeball.

Thats not how chance works, the chance to succeed wont go up with each failure. Every time you make the same 0.781% roll.
