This is kinda like when buffing ice offensively only really benefits water types and not ice types: buffing bug types would benefit non-bugs carrying coverage u-turn or x-scissor. Buff bug defensively instead, making it resist poison (bugs develop resistance against pesticides over time, and it's been 6 gens already), and fairy.
