Took my simipour all the way to the e4. Pulled it's weight, they have crazy huge move pools (unlike my fucking serperior which was a dead weight a lot of the time)

It has the most pathetic movepool ESPECIALLY for a starter wjo usually has a lot of utility in coverage and HMs. Eventually just used coil+ leaf blade + leech seed +..... rock smash. Legitimately has NO physical coverage. Useless.

I liked the idea of parallel lines with subtle variations on move sets. The lake trio had a similar thing in dppt. Just a shame they weren't very well balanced.

It was the beginning of the starter type baby-ing
XY amped it up by having you fight the weak one WITH A SUPER EFFECTIVE MOVE as your first rival battle, then gave you all the monkeys immediately, and then you didn't even fight the advantaged opponent starter until gym 3 or some shit.
If it was my first Pokemon game I might be grateful. Otherwise, I'd feel insulted.

Their pre-evos are based on the phrase "say no evil, see no evil, hear no evil." When they evolve, they become delinquents. Specifically, each is a based on a Japanese stereotype (I can't recall the names) that relates to which sense in the phrase the respective monkey is supposed represent.

They're still not the best Pokémon, but at least the idea behind them (other than being "second starters") is good.
