In gen 1 we got a ton of them, but they had shit for moves.
In gen 2 we got Sludge Bomb, but I believe all they added was Qwilfish.
In gen 3, they added a bunch of weak Pokemon and weak moves.
In gen 4 they made some badass Poison types and added some strong new moves, but offensively most of them were still not very strong.
In gen 5 we didn't get that many new Pokemon or moves.
In gen 6 we just got Dragalge.
Gen 7 hasn't showed much in the way of Poison, either.
They've been barely making any new Pokemon, and usually (usually) the ones they do make aren't that strong.
Belch is a joke. Gunk Shot's accuracy buff was nice, but barely any Poison-types can learn it... Poison just doesn't have a powerful AND reliable attack option for physical attackers. I guess for special attackers, Sludge Wave at 95BP will pass muster.
