I dunno if it was this much, but that's probably because it didn't look like it was gonna be another fire/fighting. And, ofc, because Braixen didn't look bad, per se, and Fennekin didn't look great to begin with.
In contrast, Torracat looks pretty good, while Luchalitten is ugly as sin and looks like a fire/fighting bara. I think people are honestly more upset over how terrible Luchalitten looks; they just attribute that ugliness to its bipedality (with good reason.) Torracat looks limber and agile; Luchalitten looks like a hulking wall of catmuscle.
