This stupid pun might explain why we have 3-4 Fire/Fighting-type starter Pokémon. (Even if Litten3 is Fire/Dark-type or something else, they are still based around a fighting style.)

I don't believe this pun works in Japanese, nor do I believe that a Japanese company would design entire starters around English puns.

It's even dumber than the idea of a Japanese company designing starters around Chinese mythology.

Sure, they're not AS good as a water pokemon for a similar scenario, but they're still a better option than the steelix
