Literally wrong. In gen IV if a you had a pokémon at level 50 fighting a wild pokémon at level 50 with base 100exp you will get 714exp points. We're ignoring all other stuff like Lucky Egg, Trade bonus, Trainer bonus and so on.
Now take the same with the gen V formula, and you get 1001. That you with a lv50 pokémon fighting a wild lv50 pokémon with 100base exp.
Let's use that formula again, now with your pokémon at 65 and the wild one still at 50 with 100 base exp, it's not until now that the result is 714.
In this case it means that you have to be 15 levels above the pokémon in gen V to get as little exp as in gen IV.That's a fucking lot. Obviously the exact amount of levels you need varies by both base exp and the opponent's level, lv50 and base 100 exp are pretty neutral values.
