They could be fun in game and make kahuna battles a bit harder. It's definetely a gimmick, but at least they'll do one move per type and move on instead of abandoning the concept and not adding new ones like with the megas

Megas are still a thing dumbfuck, was confirmed in the last trailer, they might be a post game thing though since it seems you have to buy mega stones with battle points.

I like the concept because I love everything that revolves around all the different types themselves. Like arceus and the plates, etc.

I really wish we got some lore focusing on the types.

I don't think that there are new megas, otherwise the newest VGC would allow them. VGC is just another way or markething the game and they want to hype all the new pokemon and mechanics.
