Since platinum they pretty much tackle with this problem. Most of gym leader's mon has better than average type coverage.

I'd be disappointed, but Aqua got grimer for water pollution and magma got koffing for land/ we couldn't use trubbish pollution. They could've at least given the admins side water/ ground lines though.

Magma still got screwed, as there's still not enough Fire types to choose from in Hoenn. All that teasing of Houndoom in the anime and Adventures is for nothing it seems.

Aqua however has no excuse on why they didn't get more water types in Water:the region
