I always felt that Typlosion was the best fit for Golds starter because Fearaligtor also worked perfectly for Silver.

After that Togepi line and red gyrados are almost certain.

Sudowoodo based on its Snolax parallel seems fair.

After that a toss up I guess between a Gen 2 Evee Evo, Shuckle and Dragonite.

Maybe Slowking or Steelix based on events and potential trades but meh harder to call

None of the characters can have three starters throughout the game they're from, except Red and the X/Y protag (and even then, that's post-game if you have the right Friend Safaris).

Anyway, it'd make more sense for them to get one Kalos and one Kanto starter, rather than 3 goddamn Kalos starters. Also, Lucario and maybe Lapras.

If protags from previous games were to have a canon team they wouldnt stick to one starter since theyd want to appeal to all fans who chose different starters. Besides, what does it even matter? These teams are supposed to represent their game's Pokemon overall, and the best way to do that is starters+gift/interactable Pokemon+Pokemon that can represent certain important characters

I wouldn't pick Toge___ for two reasons.

1. You couldn't get kiss in the original game, so it's hard to say whether he should have that or Togetic.
2. Togepi is a giveaway in other games too, like Platinum and ORAS, making it less unique to him.
