Point being, Mimikyu can still evolve and have the same niche. It's practically built up for a happiness-based evolution, and it doesn't have any weird move gimmickry like Ditto and Smeargle or Forme gimmickry like Castform and Oricorio.
Is there the chance that it won't evolve? Yes. But it's not a gimmickmon at all, and there's still a chance it will evolve.
