That's just the way it is nowadays. this is the cost of 3d. We already have 720 pokemon. We really don't need to add 200 every gen, we'll out run the game memory at some point.

I've always thought there would be around 85 new pokemon this round. That way I won't be too disappointed if it's less and pretty happy if there's more.

Don't base your worries on how big the dex is based on what's been revealed. That's a super unreliable measurement.
