In fact, having the Cherish Ball IS necessary to make them tradeable if they were released with one (they added this check a bit after these Jirachis with vulgar names popped up).
I've injected many mythical over /ekx/ and gave to anons over GTS and I even wonder trade Volcanions from time to time. I know what I'm talking about.
