Its not so much the graphics people like myself are hyped over. Its the overall design, as far as no more chibi models and limited mobility and shit. It seems more immersive & atmospheric.

They obviously made compromises. True the lighting on the overworld is pretty basic and the shadows are kind of meh, but that's probably so the areas can be bigger and have more 3D models overall.

Heck, even in battle the trainers only have round shadows. They obviously gave it to the pokémon first and foremost so as to save performances.

They probably should have baked the static lighting, though. Not like there's going to be much of a difference in shadow placement during the times of the day.

Interestingly, Hawaii actually has something called a Lahaina Noon, in which the the Sun directly points over the island, which produces to shadows.

The lighting is still pretty shit, I just found this interesting enough to bring up.

They tried the whole dynamic shadows thing in XY and failed miserably. It looked like shit and didn't even work correctly so I'm okay with circle shadows.

Theses are phenomenal graphics. They dont even have chibi overworld pokemon. The sceneray is sooo much more bigger and vibrant why are you complaining?!
