It has been said that Unova treated Bugs well/has the best Bug types in general (and I agree with that). But what other gens have the best of a certain type?

I was thinking about it and Sinnoh is my favorite in terms of Ice and Ghost types, and Hoenn or Kalos has the best Dragons.

Backing you up on Kalos best dragons. Noivern, Tyrantrum, Goodra. Best Dragon gen hands down, since they didn't have to hold back with the addition of Fairy.

Sinnoh's specialty is Ice. Mamoswine, Weavile, Froslass, Glaceon, all are amazing. Also, they're all cross-gen evos, but that's beside the point, they're in the regional dex so it counts. We're talking the region, not the gen.

Hoenn's specialty was water. Wingull and Temtacool fucking everywhere, Relicanth, Clamperl and its split evos, Wailord, Feebas/milotic, Whiscash, those Walrus thing Glacia liked, etc. Fucking full of water types.

Johto, at least to me, didn't seem to have a specialty. It was kinda vanilla.

Kanto had shitloads of Poison types, clearly the region's specialty. Nidoran lines, every grass type except Tangela was part poison, even Bulbasaur, Tentacool fucking everywhere, Koffing/Weezing, the list goes on.

Not sure with Kalos. I'd have to think it over a bit.

It's not just about what was most plentiful, but also what got a good treatment.

For example, I would say Kanto with Psychic types, as it introduced quite a few and most of them are still strong even to this day.

Only in Pt though, DP only had Weavile and Abomasnow as new Ice types availabe during the story, which was really disappointing for a cold region.

I stand by that no generation has treated Ice great.

I'd put up Johto for Dark. Lots of solid designs and pretty good usability. I don't think any later gens have really matched it.

I would say Unova had the best Dark types as a whole-Krookodile, Bisharp, Scrafty, Mandibuzz, Hydreigon, and even Zoroark were all solid additions.

I don't see how availability matters much. OP unas ed Unova and Genesect and Volcarona are nigh impossible to get beforehand.

Tyranitar, Houndoom, and Sneasel are all quite nice, even if you can't use them for the league.
