I have yet to see the jangmo-o evolutions, I disabled pictures on 4chan when type null evo was posted last night. In the past 12 hours I read all of your posts about what you hate and like about him. I took all of the information I got and drew it based on that.

Am I close? Completely off? I did this last gen with XY and it was really fun, especially the arwing greninja

The mid evo isn't really anything special besides a well designed middle ground between the first stage and the final stage.

It's like Jangmo's head but more snapping turtle-y, bigger head scale, it's bipedal and has arms similar to its evolution, a tail a lot like Jangmo's but bigger, and some extra scales on its neck and chest.

Though I guess telling you it has arms similar to the evo won't help since you didn't really get the Evo's arms right. They're more like claws than fists in the actual one.

The face looks more serious, nearly axe-like as some mentioned.
The head threads are more chain-like and segmented.
Arms are thinner and with claws, very similar to Druggidon's just with a layer of scales on the upper side.
It's body armour isn't that human, it looks more like a few rows of chains running from its shoulders and down to its waist.
Tail looks more like a fan/clover than a ball.

As for body style you nailed it.

The body type is right but the arms are a little much. He doesn't have human like fists either they're more claw like.

He does have a mace like tail and a headdress going on but again its all made of scales.

The main head scale is a lot bigger, and it isn't Heart shaped, it's a regular oval shape, but with a heart on it.

The beak is kinda shaped like a Hatchet, there's one big scale covering the back of the hand

Except the "hands" are big enough that they almost reach the ground, of course, like in your design.

It's slender, with a bigger neck, and there's a row of scales similar to the arms on the front of the neck.

Also, the plate armor thing has been exaggerated a lot. besides the headress, the entire body only has 6 rows of scales: two on the arms, one on the neck, and three on the back. Most of the body is uncovered, and the tail only has scales on the butterfly thing at the top

The head braids are not that dense. There are five rows of four scales.
There are four sets of three scales on the tip of the tail.
Your first set of arms was more correct, just too long. There is only one row of four large scales going down the arm, only on top.
There is a row of scales on its throat.
Its eyes are right below the head plate. The plate overlaps its eyes.

You ironically ended up giving it fur/feathers the one part it doesn't have them; the front of the neck. The fur/feathers is more similar to Turantrum,, like the collar of an open jacked, only on the sides and back.

Also only the tip of the tail has scales, the rest is bare. The tail and torso is also a lot thinner.

Its neck is like three times as long. Its body plane is also slightly more horizontal with the head pointing up. Kind of like the front of a viking ship.

The more I think about it its general body shape is a lot like a viking ship with arms and legs.

The outermost tip of the tail is a small spear.
The fur is lower down, kind of like where the uppermost arm plate is, it's also laying flat instead of pointing upwards.

Aside from that I don't think we will get too much closer.

The forehead plate should be swept back, not vertical. You can't see its eyelid, the eye is almost horizontal, it looks like it's wedged between the forehead plate and the first braid on its side. Also, the braids are larger, and angled downwards about 45 degrees.
Again, your first arms were more accurate. The forearms are bigger. The four arm plates gradually get bigger.
The tail is long and narrow, with small plates on top, and only halfway up the tail. Again the end has four sets of three scales aligned vertically, the largest at the tip.
Its body is a lot longer, and the neck is longer and narrower. Think of an ostrich almost. Its legs/feet are much broader too.

Dude no. The skirt is way off, and so are pretty much all the proportions, other than the arms being huge.

The legs below the thigh should be longer and wider, the body is longer and more narrow, the head ahs the same kind of flesh tooth as Jangmo-oh but from the top, and the tip of the snout is more vertical.

He's lacking lots of small patterns too but I guess that's not a big deal.

The shoulder fluff should be rooted in the same place you have it, but going downward, basically replacing the topmost shoulder scale that you have. Also the fluff is less designed than what you have, think the face fur on Tails the fox from sanic, if that helps

the shoulders in general should be a little lower

The tail is too fat and too short, it goes out further before curing up, and eventually points forwards.

The scales on the end of the tail are not facing in line with the tail, but jut straight out. If you ever saw the riddler leaks, it's like the weird mace thing he posted.

The main headspike is less round at the tip, almost becomes a dull spike.

This is actually absurdly close, good job

Yes, the general body shape isn't exact, the back legs should be longer, almost as long as the front legs, the neck needs to be longer too

The snout doesn't curve down and then up like that. From the plate it tapers directly upwards to the sharp point. It also doesn't overlap its lower jaw like that, it 's one smooth line to its chin, which is also sharp. Think of it like a hammer, but sharp and diagonal like you have it.

Its mouth is just a jagged line, but extends all the way to its braid.

It also looks less humanoid, the rear is slightly raised, imagine making the back legs slightly longer and the rear gets raised a little, but the other half of the body stays like that. It almost looks quadrupedal

Getting really close on this one.

Dreadlock has 4 scales instead of 2. First three are pretty much same size, last one is noticably smaller. From the 2 you have, I would add 1 above and then the smaller one below.

Tail scales are further spread. Imagine a 4 leaf clover. Now imagine rotating all the leaves so that if you were viewing it from directly above it would be a +. That's the layout of the scales, and there are 3 sets, getting larger as they approach the tip of the tail. The very tip is shaped like a bullet with a sharp tip.

The shoulder fuzz is much better, but the shoulder itself is too undefined. It turns in towards his chest much more sharply, and has a more defined corner between it and the neck, about a 100* angle

Also nobody has mentioned it but the legs are a little off. The second joint on the bottom is less of an actual joint, and more of a solid curve into the part of the foot that is on the ground. Also the toes are not angled, they are straight needle like claws.

The tail is even longer. It curves down at the same angle as the body, then angles back up until it points forward. It's probably twice as long as the body.

Its body is more horizontal, then its neck makes a sharp curve upwards, and slightly back. Again, think of an ostrich.

There is no band on its head. The forehead plate is swept way back, just under 45 degrees, and then the braids extend directly from it. The individual braids are about half the size of the head plate, then get slightly smaller. The scale near its eye should be very large.

Its upper arms are narrower.

Your bottom legs are still off. Like, it stands on its toes, but the "feet" are really long and broad and vertical. The part between the feet and thighs (tibia?) is really short.

The skirt should have the top row on its back. It's also about twice as long, it extends way past its body.

Getting weirder.

My thoughts on it? It looks like archeops gay cousin. In a good way. It's like an armoured raptor I think? Well thats' what it sort of looks like now. Headdress is getting a little odd, not sure if it's right. If they animate this like a raptor, it could be incredible. If they animate it like druddigon, maybe not.

The design isn't something I personally like, but it wouldn't have been so bad if it didn't come after the pure goodness that is Jangmo-o. : (

This is pretty much uncanny at this point. Aside from minor details that people have been excluding, like how most of the scales have patterns on them, this is pretty much exactly it.

looking at the two side by side, he's got a little like, snowy mountain peak thing on the end of his nose, and that first beak jagged place is actually a protruding fang, the endmost tail, neck, and claw scales have circles within (same shape) as well as front two bangs, except the very bottommost scale on each side, and lastly, the chest is not that puffed, but it does split into three scales, teardrop shaped with the points meeting at the top.

Well I dont know anymore. If this is actually accurate I really like this guy. Drawing it I can see jangmo-o in there, just extremely exaggerated. I might as well look at the trailer tomorrow if it is.

Oh and I have no idea what colour it is so i cant colour it. I would assume the same as jangmo-o

absolutely spot on. The scales have gold edges and some are red/orange. The scales at the back of its head are fully gold. The body is mostly grey with black legs.

Only changes to make are:
The neck is curving slightly backwards. Almost like it's recoiling at something.
In the official art it has a meaner look. Angrier eyes.
The legs are divided at the knees with a white mark on the knee. Like a downward facing cresent moon.
The plates on the throat are much rounder and the last one at the bottom is smaller than the rest.
The 'cape' has a cover sort of thing above it. The white fluffy part comes out from under it.

This thread made me realize /vp/ has very little eye for detail.

The snout should be sharp, not rounded.
There are no braids at the top of the headpiece. Braid 1 is near its eye, braid 3 right above that towards the middle of the headpiece, lying flat, curving backwards, and then braid 2 is between those, on the same angle as 3. Braid 4 is on its opposite side, visible between 1 and 2.
The tail and feet are even larger.
The feathers don't hang down from the head like that, it's just a few big feathers attached to its shoulders. The rest is skin.

Pretty damn close though.
