Flying to route is probably still there, so are "secret bases" cause how popular there were, but given they need a big gimmick for DP and how they been building up to literally the third most well-received Generation (despite the often hideous cross-gen evolution and such) I wouldn't be surprised if they've been trying this whole time to really shape up the games, ever since BW, and we will see a TRUE taste of it when the NX is finally out with hopefully the MS games going to it.

No. The DexNav allows you select a Pokemon you've already caught to catch again. Even disregarding hidden abilities that's a great feature. It helps save a lot of time on breeding trade fodder and extras for a living dex. And you need to capture it too, which makes it feel less handholdy than just being able to search for whatever.

You can also stop your search at any time and pick back up, which is better for handheld on the go play.

Yet we know from one of the July trailers(so many we really can't keep count) that sneaking does return in the game, so the RotomDex is upgradeable or there is a bew item. IIRC its in the trailer that had Tauros riding shown before Poke Ride was announced.

Also they only introduced Dex-related features for games that hardly had new Pokemon in them. And Sun and Moon could have an alternative since Rotom seems to be important.

It hasn't been completely removed. Just because it doesn't appear in the first two hours doesn't mean it isn't there. That said, if you did get it during the main game there would have probably been a video on it, so another possibility is that it might be post-game, if it does manage to be in. It's up to speculation but I don't have much hopes

Child me was bamboozled at the lack of Night/Day in Emerald that i loved so much in Gen 2. And ever since then ive marveled at the loss of some of my favorite game features, and even the ones i didnt really care about but still wouldnt seem hard to implement at all into new games. Im at the point where I was surprised Megaforms were in carried into SuMo from Gen 6, and wont be surprised at all if the new forms dont carry over into later games.

Maybe they just dont care, maybe its just a business decision to keep the games technically fresher by rebooting content.

Amie was expected to return because Eevee needs it to evolve into Sylveon and also because they had so many models and resources specifically for it. It'd be a waste to drop it.

Customization returned because it was an obvious progression for the player experience. Like being able to choose your gender, being able to choose and alter your character's appearance/race is just a natural expectation for Pokemon now since they're pushing for greater global connectivity and accessibility(international releases, Wonder Trade, Global Trade Station, several language options). If anything it was weird and nonsensical that they left it out of ORAS aside from wanting to make it a true R/S remake, which as we know was one of the dumber ways to approach the issue.

DexNav had nothing that couldn't be accomplished in a different way or replaced with a feature that does something similar. It was also tied to the PokeNav, which was a RSE-exclusive device. It was obviously not gonna be a returning feature, especially not in a new generation.

I don't care if dexnav is gone but I really think its necessary to create a replacement, especially considering how the official website hyped up how easy it is to make "battle ready" pokemon using dexnav + synchronize.
