I'm fine with Exeggcute but I feel a mon dropping its type for two totally unrelated types is a bit much. And a pure Fire type Cubone could've been cool/cute, and again wouldn't have be hard to do.

It's not a literal ghost, it just channels spirits. It's a Shaman and Fire dancer.

And its not ENTIRELY without precedent; Mega Altaria and Swablu have no typings in common either (Normal/Flying -> Dragon/Fairy)

normal cubone = non-neutered movepool
it gets all the moves it could normally learn PLUS anything that cubone can learn in the previous gens
which is very good and incredibly unique considering the type change

it also guarantees Fire Punch, though I unfortunately dont have FP on any cubones.
Oh, and any Cubone that isnt from Sun/Moon will evolve into a ground Marowak anyway. So still no STAB Fire Punch Thick Club Marowaks.

Vulpix and Sandshre have alolan forms alongside their evolutions and since Meowth and Grimer have them, Persian and Muk will too.
