you will get one badge in first Island, then you go to the second or you will do one trial captain and only some other tutorial eske trials.
So we battle Mallow (let us just assume she is second trial captain) at level 15. And you battle the Island Kahuna with a starter at level 28. So how would they fill the level gap?
Or what I think it could be: The Trial Captains arent gymnleader you need to battle, you will only battle against the totem Pokemon they will offer. After you beat the kahunas you will battle all of the Trial captains?
Either way the level-scaling is something that really is strange.
