Tbh I prefer having things offline so I can access them on the go and don't have to deal with the infuriating repeating loads from Pokébank and it randomly failing to save when I do large operations. Also fuck lack of touch screen and not being able to deposit items (this hurts more when transferring batches of mons from a game to another).
I also really dislike how they charge $5/year for it. It's not a lot of money by itself, but when you look deeper at it, a full pokébank weights less than 1 MB, the app is pretty sloppy, and you're forced to sign to the storage even if you just want to transfer your bros from older gens the legit way. It's a lot. I can't even begin to imagine how much profit they're making out of this.
I did buy the pass once but once it expired homebrew was kicking in so I never renewed (especially for reasons above) and am happy with PHBank.
