But friend ball cuts the friendship evolution BS time so much that not having it is a nuisance.

Or the love ballIt would be cool if they lowered the catch rate and removed the species limit in return. That way, it also stops overlapping with repeat ball.

I went through most of soul silver believing there was no species restriction and effectively catching everything on the first try.

Well, damn, that's bullshit.
All in all, I don't understand why ball change isn't allowed either since it's there just for aesthetics and makes for good customization. Just give it name changing rules to keep those cherish balls and we're golden.

Goddamn, except for the first case, all the replacements are worse than the originals. If it weren't for the designs, I'd rather have apricorn balls over Hoenn balls any day of the week

Just what was the point of that thing? It would have made more sense to make it work like a dark ball, considering day/night was a strongly advertised new feature.

I'd say quick ball fits the bill since fast ball is something you'd rather throw at the start of the battle rather than risk the pokémon fleeing.

It might be late to update the Moon ball like that. I say let's make it a typed based ball like the Net Ball. It has a higher catch rate on dark/moon pokemon like, for example Dark, Ghosts, and Fairies.

Can someone explain the purpose of the Fast Ball?

Does it catch Pokemon who run away fast like Raikou, Entei and Abra? Does it work best at the beginning of a battle? Is it meant for Pokemon of high speed?

Eh, friend balls don't apply to breeding, just catches. So the luxury ball is better long term since it's easier to grind return users back up when moved to a new gen.

Which is... slightly niche and the improvement isn't all that big.
On the other hand, managing friendship evolutions is a major pain in the ass (or the wallet) for all non-Johto games.

A few of the Apricorn balls were poorly thought out or coded. The Moon Ball was literally a recolored Pokeball in the original games, despite the description saying otherwise.

Fast ball was originally ONLY good for catching Magnemite, Grimer, and Tangela.

The Love Ball was just wrong and caught SAME gendered pokemon of the same species, not opposite.

They were such a great idea. Sure, a few of them were very poorly thought out and implemented, but R/S showed they could fix them if they wanted and they were just fine in HG/SS.

I don't doubt that it's true, but what's the point, even? I suppose if it were something like a Friend Ball or Luxury Ball, it would make raising Happiness Points a little quicker, but other than that, I fail to see the point.

It's better than having everything on a plain boring pokéball.
It's also the only way to "change" the ball and the only way to get freshly bred pokémon on Johto balls too bad that by its very nature no 5th or 6th gen pokemon can be in one of those
