Stuff like Mega Evolutions, Hold Items, Infinite-Use TMs, Not Being 10 Years Old, etc., are all in the player's favor and can make the game dramatically easier.
If you really cared about making the game more difficult, you'd suggest stuff like making all TMs into Move Tutors, withholding megas until the end of the game, not allowing hold items until the end of the game, and the like. Or you could realize that they are all optional features and you can choose to not use them to make your game experience a bit more difficult and you're a fucking adult.
But it still won't be difficult because it's a fucking kids game. Get over it.
