Unlikely. If anything it looks a lot more like a possible Wimpod evolution. Same color eyes, similar overall color scheme, looks like its hiding under its spikes which goes along with its coward theme, etc.

I doubt an isopod, or at least an arthropod, would evolve into a sea cucumber / echinoderm type creature. Yes, there's Octillery, who ditches his spine, but do you think a bug would really ditch its entire exoskeleton to become a sea cucumber?

Crown of thorns for these reasons. It has a similar color scheme, it's a major environmental problem like several of the other pokes this gen, and it actually has similar features like both spiny tentacles.

I wouldn't mind shingle urchins, but it looks a bit similar in color to crowns and the spines are pointy contrary to how flattened shingles are. Plus, opihi would probably get noticed before those do.

I'd lay off it. It's not the biggest leap, but remoraid and octillery still have the gun to cannon connection. If the new mon has something to do with fists or hands, I'd be more inclined to agree. However, it'd seem like a waste of design for intestine punching to be changed to hair punching compared to water gun to water artillery.
