Well, the Ultra beasts do have the off CHANCE of being catchable. The cells are already confirmed to just be a texture for collection sake. and looking at all of them, think of this. Why so few totems? Why are they all in pairs or more? I feel like there is still more that we dont know yet.

My main team is composed mostly by old gen pokémon anyway, which will all be transfered as soon as the pokébank will work.

As explained by dataminers, the ripped sprites come from the team preview images.

Being that you cannot put a totem pokemon on your team (or I guess Zygarde cell or core), then no image is required. However they still sync up to the dex however they have organised it so they leave in blank images.

I doubt the blanks are totems because seven trial captains have been revealed. And when you exclude the Hakamo-o totem, whose typing doesn't match any of the trial captains, there are only six totems.
