When each relevant information is revealed at smaller doses, people take their time to get used to it. That's when we have threads where someone points out the explanation behind certain parts of the pokémon's design, which always get replies like "oh, I kind of like it now that understand its design". It also helps a lot that official reveals always come with background information about the species.
But when all you have are 20+ still images of the pokémon, most people find it hard to assimilate everything, and would rather just say "everything is shit" instead of trying to get used to the new stuff. That's when you get 200 "Pokémon is dead preoder cancelled" threads.
