Why do you hate mega evolutions, /vp/?
They've been one of the best additions beside Fairy typing in a long, long, long while.
Pokemon has always been plagued with a serious problem; Some pokemon are just shitty. Not design wise, but in terms of usability, some just aren't worth using most of the time.
The addition of mega evolutions has given us the tools to bring mediocre or shitty pokemon out of the depths of shit, and into the light of use.
>why not just give them a normal evolution then?
Because that doesn't help shitty third-stage pokemon at all. Also, the "temporary evolution" aspect adds an extra little facet to battling that makes it just that slight bit more intriguing (which it desperately needs).
Sure, it has its problems. Perhaps some pokemon didn't need mega evolutions (looking at you, mewtwo. Blaziken.) But the benefits we've seen, not to mention the potential benefits in the future, outweigh the bad in my opinion. The only problem I really have is that there aren't MORE mega evolutions.
Trust me. When mega evolutions were revealed, I hated them too. I had my own little autist shitfit as well. But it's past time to come around. This is what pokemon needed.
(I know Primal evolutions basically ruined VGC meta and are basically mega evolutions. Let's try to focus on the good here.)
