>>29295391He was the ONLY composer for Gen 1. Of course, it stands to reason those games would have some memorable songs, they were the first Pokemon games ever. His problem is he's good at writing battle themes, percussive music that works as a nice complement to battles without distracting from them at all, but a lot of his music just sounds thematically very similar, uses a lot of the same musical ideas and progressions.
>>29295015Ichinose went on a hiatus from Pokemon to work on the soundtrack to Pocket Jockeys, for some reason. He actually was a composer for every game up to Black and White 2, but it's much harder to tell; the limitations of the original Game Boy Color forced him to be clever in how he arranged his Jazz-inspired harmonies. His compositions are still on-point, especially the town themes, but his arrangements always sound kind of muddled, especially in comparison to, say, Hitomi Sato.
