They added a sense of authenticity to the game. You actually had to work with your Pokémon to get past obstacles. Now all you need to do is pull a device out of your ass, press a button, and a Pokémon that's not even your's will materialize out of no where. I know that GameFreak wanted to casualize the games even further but this is just ridiculous.

It wouldn't have been so bad if things like Flash, Cut, Whirlpool, and Strength weren't awful moves and sometimes had weird distribution. Not really sure walking up to a tree and confirming you want to use Cut is that much more of an adventure than Poke Rides but I guess some people have nostalgia over ever single aspect of the series.

I'm a little put off by this also. It seriously devalues the partners aspect of Pokemon. Sure it'll be convenient but it really ruins the feel of a Pokemon game for me.

Yeah, so how you rent a Pokemon to do the moves for you, why can't they let you use Pokemon from the PC who have the moves? They can still be the TM ones and removable.

By "your Pokemon", you mean a route one HM slave that forced you to box one of your bros or use a 5 member team until the Elite Four, in which you then catch a late game mon that you have to level up to your own team.

I didn't like HMs. I don't like that they were replaced with set pokemon that don't belong to you and warp to you on demand. Feels really weird. I would have much preferred if they had like a mini-game that required you to catch that Tauros and put it in a special box for that purpose to unlock the ability to ride.

We don't know how exactly each ride will be unlocked yet. Perhaps you have to complete a very special type of trial before you have access to each one. HMs were usually given to you in the games, but with this, they have the chance to do something really cool.

Hms however are done for. Back in 1998 I was pissed off using hm slaves. I only like cut in battle.

The reason HMs weren't removable was so you couldn't surf somewhere, delete the move and get stuck. Thats why you can delete HMs at the move deleter's house, its safe.

Easier from a plot standpoint, hms have always made more sense

It can now be you earning the right to use the specially kitted out and trained pokemon for mountain climbing and shit, when it was your own pokemon it made no sense they couldn't do it for the get go

Capturing a tauros to be decked out specifically for this could be cool, but it'd get old when you have to do it at least 6 times and it's a lot of effort for something that many people don't care about

Where were you when black and white came out. Throughout the entire story they didn't require any hm moves save for the one time using cut and post game. That was generally considered a great thing. If you're going to force linear roadblocks I'd rather it be like this or black and white than forcing it to take up move slots or even pokemon slots for something retarded like this OP.
