The new ball might very well be related to the box legendaries' forms/pre-evos, akin to Manaphy's special egg, plus non-Pokemon with battle data aren't new at all to the series - studio props in BW2, Bittercold and Dark Matter in PMD; I doubt that kind of precedent hadn't got Ishihara and pals' OK going forward.
