It would be set in the medieval times and you'll be using 4 pokemon in battle like most rpg.
(You will have 4 party members that will join you with 6 pokemon each)

The pokedex will be 250 or so,ther will be a few new pokemon,and there will be bosses.

I've thought about making one where your Pokemon choose which move to use for themselves (like in the Emerald Battle Frontier). I had a bit of a story mapped out about trying to stop a corporation from bulldozing your island region for tourists and shit, it got nowhere. I mostly did it as an excuse to draw fakemon I guess.

If I had unlimited time and resources I would make a pokemon game set in Prehistoric times, where you encounter fossil mons in the wild, with all kinds of pokemon in there state where they were stronger/weaker than their modern day form.

You would catch pokemon in rudimentary acorn-like devices, and there would be no potions, only a variety of berries and weird food items.

You travel to 8 different tribes, all with a different habitat and theme, who test young trainers. This forms the gym system, explaining that the origin of the gyms was a coming-of-age trial for young adults.

You and four other trainers you meet on your journey eventually defeat the villain team (which would be a stone age analogy to Team Rocket, e.g. bandits that want to worship the sky) - you then choose to remain as guardians of the region who will test new trainers, thus making you the first Elite Four. I'm guessing the villain team would be trying to harness the power of Mew to do bad things, or something to that effect.

It would basically be set in a mixture of Kanto/Johto, but in a time long before current events and before the sea level had changed, or mountains had shifted, and so on.

A region that's based off of South America where the fossil Pokemon never went extinct. Legendaries would be a brightly colored quetzalcoatl and a dull, monochrome naga. The evil team would be intent on making life as boring as possible - either through washing out the color on everything or bumping up the saturation so much it's like walking around a Candy Crush stage.
Starters are a fire/steel jackalope, water/ghost kelpie, and a grass/ground therinzinosaurus.

This, if I did it wouldn't be Pokemon at all, those C&Ds are extremely real and lately have 100% success rates. I'm never messing with that shit, putting years of my life into a project only to have it shut down and getting me threatened with legal action is not my idea of a good use of time.

It would be a party member collecting game in a similar vein to Pokemon, but not Pokemon.
It'd probably use a battle system I was working on that is semi-tactical, where battles happen in a turn-based manner but the monsters actually have to move around a field to attack, you control 3 monsters at once and things like splash/AoE moves start to matter a lot more due to positioning, team synergy becomes not about switching but about complimenting each other strengths in the field.

Not sure on setting, was thinking on a medieval fantasy setting where civilization is concentrated around a huge cluster of cities and villages at the center of the map, but the land is more unexplored, uninhabited and dangerous the further you go from the city, so people need to capture and train monsters to be able to venture further and explore ruins which might actually hold technology more advanced than what the current society has. There would be a heavy RPG-like character vs environment setting with enemies that are actually out to kill you, but also the familiar Pokemon-esque competition between "trainers" since people who venture out to the wild to explore and train monsters would be seen as heroes and also be divided into different factions and schools, who compete for the finding of loot and knowledge from the outside world. Beating the leader of other factions could function as gyms of sorts.

Anyway, I think there aren't nearly enough monster collecting games out there, most of the non-Pokemon ones are 100% for kids and suck in one way or the other.

1st Gym - Normal - British Columbia
2nd Gym - Ground - Saskatchewan
3rd Gym - Dark - Quebec
4th Gym - Poison - Alberta

Elite Four would be in the Northwest Territories/Nunavut, champion would use Flying and Ice types. Evil team seeks to sow mayhem and take control of the region by being as low key as possible. By endgame, a lot of friendly characters turn out to be villain admins, and in the finale all the gym leaders scramble as all the evil teams members reveal themselves and go for a power grab.

Would have a sequel set a few years later, with the fallout of the power grab making everyone paranoid and on edge, fearing for the teams possible return. As well, some good characters would have defected for their own reasons, and vice versa.

Once you beat the champion, who is just Lance. Your rival will come in like Brendan/May did, but instead will try to challenge the champion is who currently you who they just found out.

Final battle Mount Silver again, where you are challenged by Red, then Gold, then May consecutively

Turn-based RPGs are much harder to balance than they appear.

If you made a very simple RPG like Final Fantasy IV (the original versions), where there are no classes and barely any customization, then it becomes a lot easier to get it right. But take any RPG with complex party composition choices, like class systems or like 800 fucking party members to choose from in Pokemon's case, then it gets pretty crazy.

Aside from party composition there is also the EXP curve problem, it's pretty much impossible to know how strong a player will be when he gets to a particular encounter, this gets multiplied to infinity the more open ended a game is. This is why GS Kanto is so shit also, and why Bethesda just throws in the towel and level scales everything.

Rival is a cheery but kinda anxious girl. Gym leaders include an over-exaggerated weeb girl, father time-ish safari dude, gothic lolita princess, a biker gangster, a mercenary looking woman, a husband/wife combo, a red headed programmer lady, and a faux king.

Sequel replaces weeb girl with a boxer girl, mercenary girl with a photographer, the husband/wife combo for either a model or two DJ's, and the faux king for a fairy queen.

i find most hacks seem to just take the route of "make everything super high level just because" route of doing things just out of laziness

two big examples i can think of are the dark rising games and vega, ESPECIALLY with vega having gym battles like 20 levels above trainers on the route just outside the town

i just want a game that at least attempts to make a decent level curve, like the drayano hacks. sure they're not perfect but attempts were definitely made and i somehow ended up underlevelled as fuck by endgame but apparently that's just a problem with me

I also tried making a more traditional fangame, but I hate the idea of making a bunch of towns that you'll only visit once for a badge, so I scrapped that too.

My most fleshed out project was a dungeon crawler where you could choose any of the first 250 pokemon and explore dungeons or grind in a stadium. I talked about it a lot on /heg/ but lost the will to continue when /heg/ turned into arguing and drama.

With the introduction of Alolan Form Pokemon reigniting my love for the idea of delta species, I had an idea for a retelling of Pokemon Fire Red, with no major differences except for type, form, moveset, ability, and stat changes for all Pokemon. Pokemon battles are outlawed as animal cruelty, though cute mons are owned as pets. Everyone is afraid of evolution, because it implies that pokemon battled each other to get there
As such, you don't just travel town to town and face trainers normally. There are secret under the radar locations where trainers battle
Gyms are based on these under the radar locations, like a gypsy camp, a casino, a strip club, creole backwater.
Areas to catch pokemon are on distant landmasses that you teleport to through the underground network. You gain access to islands as you progress, and HM obstacles prevent you from exploring the entire island in one go
No new fakemons
The story will be focused on these seedy underground characters that you meet and conflicts with the authorities for being a pomemon battler. You are highly ostrisized by the public, and resources and money are hard to get, making it more valuable on your excavations. You'll actually have to work to get rare powerful poke you want.
What do you guys think? Good concept?

- GSC; story is pretty much wrapped up but the gym leaders and other characters here are pretty much as fleshed out and developed as we'll ever get out of this series. would be cool to build on that and have a story focused game that gets to 'pander' (re: take advantage of nostalgia)
- RSE sequel; literally ORAS with a Battle Frontier. but, seriously, Delta Episode actually kind of did what I hoped ORAS might be. I just wanted the entire game to be a sequel to ORAS story instead of just the end of it
- DPPt is probably best suited for a sequel. what happened to cyrus, a lot of mythology that wasn't fully taken advantage of (Azure Flute and Hall of Origin...). kinda hoping the Gen IV remakes take this direction, actually. it'd be nifty to have a Neo Team Galactic turn out to be behind Sylvally's creation

Pretty basic story (8 Gym Leaders, Elite 4, rival, etc.) somewhat similar to Emerald, with two evil teams. The gimmicks would be: 1) Your choices matter. The evil team you beat up the most releases a Pokemon that effectively changes the region for the postgame. 2) Gym leaders show up before and after you beat them doing important shit . 3) A handful of waifus/husbandos to date sim.
I would use fakemon legendaries and maybe some Megaevolutions. Starters would be Bulbasaur, Chimchar and Froakie. Regional rodent would be Zigzagoon. Regional birds would be HootHoot and Swellow). New flavor in gameplay would be reached by introducing new items and moves.

The villain team are these Poke Luddites. They think humanity is too reliant on Pokemon, so they use Pokemon to sabotage Pokemon related facilities and headquarters, or try to steal the designs to the master ball etc. They use a lot of Steel, Ice, Ghost, Psychic, or generally any Pokemon that is cold, distant, or don't have many emotional features. The idea is they don't regard Pokemon as partners to be bonded with and only as a means to an end. They aren't really Luddites though as they believe humanity should develop technology to combat and protect themselves from Pokemon instead of using them. They use tasers and other tactical shit to catch Pokemon and control them with pain and fear rather than loyalty and respect. In the end the team leader crumbles when he realizes his Pokemon are still attached to him despite the way he treats them, combined with the hypocrisy of using Pokemon at all, and realizing that Pokemon are apart of nature and have done more good for humanity than not.

I'd also like to have non-Pokemon opponents that, unlike Ultra Beasts, are not catchable. I also want them to have a completely different look from anything else in the game, maybe as photo-realistic collages, in order to establish just how different they are.

But the moment you get your 4th bagde everything goes crazy. The story takes a darker tone (more like Colosseum and not Ow the Edge like Reborn) villains becoming more prominent, with 2 different teams having a form of a turf war, your friend starts to have forms of resentment towards you due to the things that happen in the plotline, and downright hates you near the end, with a bunch of other crazy stuff such as traveling to a whole other region. Game would let you choose certain settings such as if battles will be primarly single battles, double battles or rotation battles.

Post game would consist of collecting the last 4 badges and then doing a tournament style thing like the anime/PWT and when you win you can face the Elite 4, but the Elite 4 is more set up like the battle facilities (not like you have to fight 21 battles and face them, but them having unique properties to their battles)

A prequel to RB. Set mainly in Kanto, but you would set foot in other regions via boat. The idea is you're a fledgling Pokemon researcher (not Oak, but you're one of his colleagues) doing some preliminary data collection for what will eventually become the Pokedex project. The story would also tie in with the formation of Team Rocket and the creation of Mewtwo. Climax would involve the destruction of the Cinnabar Mansion due to Mewtwo's escape. I imagine there would also be a new a mechanic where instead of battling you can observe wild Pokemon to get info about them. You can do stuff like throwing rocks or bait to see how they react, as well as battling them to find out more about their behaviors.

Gyms are replaced with Forts, where you take on the local lords. After taking down the eight lords, you march on their capital city, and fight the Four Archguards before taking in the King.

Also, the region you're from is Johto, and you're fighting against the Kanto people, fighting in their region. There'd be an expanded dex consisting of some of the Sinnoh evolved forms, but not all (because Magmarizers/Electrizers couldn't have existed then)

Set right after the war they always vaguely talk about, maybe sammy oak as a rival. I wanted to make a 3D pokemon game with the same style as windwaker (gamecube version)

The story: Your character wasn't allowed to own pokemon because it's mom claimed to be allergic to them, one day as you're walking around town you find a pokeball and you decide to catch a pokemon despite you not having a pokemon (you know, since traditionally you need to battle a pokemon before catching it). That would then introduce the combat system which would be basically like those old clash of ninja naruto games but you'd still have to level your pokemon, so it wouldn't be an rpg.

I gave up while i was making the texture for a caterpie model i had downloaded from some website.
I realized i'd need an actual team to create a game as big as i wanted it to be. there's no way i could animate, re-texture and program a ton of pokemon. It was unrealistic and silly and it would've likely looked like shit.

I created Pokemon Solar Light/Lunar Dark which is almost fully complete, over 350 Fakemon in it, I'm currently working on my next game that is gonna be based on Greece so there will be heaps of greek themed fakemon like a chimera, manticore, medusa and a pegasus.
Story would follow something like Hercules 12 tasks or something to do with the greek pokemon gods and stop the evil team from taking over the pokemon version of olympus or something, haven't thought too much about the story yet.

I thought it would be cool to have pokemon in a fallout esq. setting. Post nuclear apocolypse. Water, grass and ice type pokemon (maybe some other types too) would be extremely rare.

I thought about if it were in two versions, the enemy teams would be 'Team Gaia' who want to destroy all life on the planet to prevent another fallout by using some sort of device to erupt the core of the earth to do so.

on the other version the enemy team would be 'Team Sol' (kinda got an aqua/magma thing here, but the teams would be version exclusive and never interact with each other) Who would want to use some sort of device to cause the sun to supernova to eradicate all life on the planet.

Instead of gyms and elite 4 there would be 12 members of the team you must face to progress the game. (8 team officers who would drop a pendant in place of gym badges) 4 captains which would serve as the elite 4. and the champion would be the team leader.

No clue for a post game.

I'd make a coming of age story with a rustic feeling to it. Give the MC dialogue choices. Nothing crazy just a few different responses so the player feels personally invested and represented.
Probably only use the first 251 mons with a few of the less offensive later Gen designs tucked away in hard to reach areas and trades.
I'm tired of Kanto and Johto so I'd probably make a custom map. North of Joh to so you can get to a few of the northern towns.
No real cameos but lots of talk about people you have heard of. Immersion is important to me.

I'd one idea to make 3 mini regions based off Ireland (Where I'm from, I'd probably call the region Eirina, a cross of Hibernia and éire) and 2 place's I've been on holiday to; South Cali (Los Ventos, a mix of Los Santos and Ventura from GTA) and The Alps (Tavolo Bianco)
Each region would have 6 gyms and you start with a new starer in each one. In the center of the 3 regions would be a Battle Frontier like Nexus. You can decide in what order you want to do the regions, once you complete one, you box your team (You can revist regions you've completed) and you don't get access to them unless you go back or until you finish all 3 regions, where the post game takes place

I think the fun of it is starting one of the regions pure and then re-visiting them when you're stronger. Also I don't want a starting point where you start off at badge one and then finish at 18. By the time you're at badge 10 or so, everyone would be level 100
