Plenty of people disagree, I think gen 3 looked like shit, but I think gen 5 looked amazing. But I agree gen 6 really wasn't all that amazing aesthetically, Sun and Moon look great though

ORAS is ugly because Gamefreak took "remake a 2D game in 3D" completely literal with no liberties outside of a few contained instances like Mauville. Things that were okay in design for a 2D game were not fixed up for modern standards. So you have things like the square puddles, awkward squished buildings, and in general shitty undetailed assets. Along with the region itself feeling tiny and boring even in comparison to the originals.
