The age of the console + handheld is over. Vita fucking bombed, probably won't be a successor. Wii-U bombed, so Nintendo is trying to merge their handheld and console resources into one. Not to mention Microsoft never even fell for the handheld + console meme.

TPCi specifically stated they won't be doing any more Stadium-like games because the games are already in 3D.
It would be even more pointless now since the games would now be on the big screen.

We're getting a GameFreak-made Pokemon game within six months of the Switch launch. So October 2017 at the latest. This will be Eclipse, or whatever they end up calling the third Sun/Moon game.

The D/P remakes will be part of Gen VII, coming in 2018 for the Switch.

Pokemon sells systems. Nintendo will have leaned on GF heavily to have a Pokemon game on it next year.

I doubt this will totally replace their handheld line.

They're making too much money releasing a 3ds with custom art for every single game franchise.

I always hated the dual screens. Now that nintendo finally announced a single screen portable there are few people stating how they hate dual screens. I always thought I was alone. I'm glad that they are going back to a single screen. That is the only reason I'm excited for the new console.
