The only reason she's got so much attention right now is because she's the newest female trainer type to be revealed. Literally a day or two ago.

There'll probably be some new trainer type that shows up in the full game that will be heavily waifu'd. It might be the hex maniac again. Might not be.

Yeah I can see that. But that's also what makes her endearing and cute to a lot of people.

The trainer class fanart trend did not start until HGSS (ive seen art of the beauty, kimono girls and ace trainers) and didn't really take off until BW.

At least a potential remake/sequel of Sinnoh will get art of that started too
