Plants are usually inanimate.
It'd be different if it was partly an animal like Meganium or Sceptile, but he's part object scarecrow so I figured it'd count.

I just really don't get the difference between why in the context of Pokemon we don't group literal plant creatures with living metal/plastic creatures when the end result is typically the same.
Especially with age old things such as Oddish's concept joke.

My favorite objectmon AND favorite Pokemon overall is this special guy right here.

A Pokemon that stays cute well into his final stage, and there's just something incredibly charming about having a Pokemon that's shaped like a twin ice cream cone.

Plus he ain't half bad in battle, either. Has a deceptively workable movepool and stats.

True, and I suppose the Western fanbase is inclined to look at Pokemon as primarily being animals, insects, monsters, etc based on the looks of the majority and Pokemon being a contraction for Pocket Monster.

Still, Pokemon hasn't entirely shied away from folklore inspirations. Electabuzz, Froslass, and possibly Jynx are all based on Japanese folklore.

they never disclosed that or confirmed any of that though.

plus, it's not just a decoy. it has a fully functional and working mouth, eyes, arms + stomach and other organs that are not decoys.

I don't know if the brain is in the tail but again, nobody ever disclosed whether that theory about Wobbuffet and Unown is true or not.
