My theory. In Gen VI, they introduced us to the Zygarde cores and cells. I have a feeling this will be a similar thing with this Marshadow. I'm assuming that this is a Marshadow core.

Magearna is clearly the feminine Mythical, ala Meloetta/Diancie. Seriously, just looking at the designs makes it obvious which one is closer to Mew in terms of size.

From my examination, the Hoopa-esque ponytail on top his head is bluish-grey on the shiny, versus the greenish-grey on the regular. Very hard to see. What a pointless shiny that manages to be worse than Garchomp
