Lol plus the fact it might have some ability tied to this mysterious "Sea of Flames" field effect for a lot of pesky stallmons is good too :) It's an interesting design but gonna for sure name it The Rock since for all we know they drew inspiration from for the design (plus he associates himself with bulls and is bulky and all that jazz.)

My though is perhaps the Tapus aren't based on, or directly tied to, polynesian dieties like we first thought but maybe animal fables mixed in with certain positions in Hawaiian/Alolan society, like a War Chief (Tapu Bull), Shaman/Healer Chief (Tapu Squid), Political Chief (Tapu Bird) and Traveler/Commerce Chief (Tapu Fish) etc.

I mean that works lol but as an actually ability and not move combo. Kinda like how they combined light screen and reflect into one move for Poppmaid to spam at us. If it get's Recover, Scald and Moonblast/Dazzling Gleam she's legit gonna be annoying AF lol.

It makes more sense shape wise kinda, but moths/butterfly are usually European, Asian often African symbols of spirits, mediumship, psychopomps whatever, and the Hawaiian goddess/god of psychopomps and mediumship is tied to squids.I mean it's been awhile and this whole two girls and two boys messed my brain up on potentially who the Tapus are based on but that makes a lot of sense yet raises a lot more questions. Or maybe the new terrain will just have a new effect kind of like Psychic Terrain does with priority moves. Maybe this one will damage all mon in the field every turn, and lower grounded mons attack while it's up. Not burned per se, just lowered attack.

You know how all the island guardians fold up to be animals/animal heads? Tapu Koko folds up to be a rooster head. This folds up to be a bull head. The red parts fold down, and the arms come together at the yellow hands and form the nose ring. I wish I had a pic of this

probably because wide attack protection doesn't fit with a fire theme. psychic makes sense avoiding priority because psychic is heightened senses, seeing the future, stuff like that. electric terrain provides an immunity to sleep because the floor is electrically charged and so impossible to sleep on due to jolts of electric.

fire and ghost will probably have additional affects that make sense with their types.

The red parts fold down and connect to form a bull head

The pointy bits on top are the bulls horns that go on the side

The arms connect down at the yellow part to form a bull nose ring

The "tail" at the bottom with a yellow end is the cowbell

I like ice types a little less, but most of them are utter garbage. I see on this list of unused type combos that ice/dragon isn't on the list. Surely they couldn't have fucked tha-
