Why did they make a new ability for Bewear when there's already fur coat that effectively does the same thing? Isn't fluffy just a shittier version of Furfrou's ability (b/c fire weakness)?

Fur Coat also halves damage from all physical moves, while Fluffy only halves damage from all moves that make contact.

Fur Coat is a gimmick ability for Furfrou though.

Bewear unintentionally became Cubone's natural predator due to dumb autistic Bewear wanting to give sad lonely Cubones hugs, killing them. That's why Alolan Marowak is Ghost type, so it can't be hurt by Bewear's STABs, and Fire type to take advantage of Fluffy's weakness.

There are far more non-contact Physical moves (including the ever-present EQ) than there are contact Special moves.

Hopefully getting a lesser version of an ability means it has 255 Attack considering how they're hyping up its strength.

I'm fully expecting Rampardos 2.0 in stats. In my dreams though, it actually has decent Speed on top of monster Attack.

Fur Coat defends against physical moves, Fluffy defends against "moves that make contact" so Fluffy wont do any good against moves like EQ or Stone Edge, but helps against moves like Megahorn or Dragon Claw

They emphasize on Bewears strength A LOT, so I'd imagine it has astronomical Attack. So giving it Fur Coat would be too powerful.

In fact, the highest non mega, non legend attack so far with Conkeldurr implies it doesnt rely on brute strength but with centrifugal force of spinning with concrete pillars
